Aarhus Vand needs to change all water meters in our supply area. We will exchange mechanical water meters for digital ones that will be read remotely.
The new water meters also come with a series of new features, such as leakage detection and automated water usage reports.
We are still working on getting the communication technology and reporting software in place. Until we do that, you must continue to read the water meter manually if requested by our settlement department.
Aarhus Vand has hired ELTEL Networks A/S as our contractor. They will change most of the water meters on our behalf. When the time comes to change the water meter in your building, you will receive a notification from ELTEL Networks A/S in which they will suggest a time and date for the exchange. If this time does not suit you, you may reschedule.
The technicians from ELTEL Networks will carry ID cards clearly labelling them as Aarhus Vand subcontractors.
1. Make sure that the water meter is easily accessible.
This means: empty the closet, clear away stored items, remove any shelving, and clean the area around the water meter.
2. Check that the valves are functional.
In order to change the water meter, the technician needs to shut off the water. This is typically done using 1 – 2 valves, which are situated on either side of the meter.
Watch this video to learn how to check if the valves are functional.
If your valves do not function properly, you need to get a licensed plumber to change them before the technician arrives.
